OCALA, Fla. – A man is accused of attempted murder, which is a felony charge, following a shooting Thursday evening in Ocala, police said.

The boy was outside of the home socializing with friends and family at the time. Police said he was shot in the buttocks and was taken to a hospital by a friend before police arrived. The victim was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Brown was quickly identified and detained by officers after the shooting and multiple witness statements were corroborated, police said.
The investigation revealed that previous threats had been made by Brown against the boy's aunt, who is also Brown's ex-girlfriend, according to the Ocala Police Department.
Brown and the boy subsequently exchanged words on social media, with the boy stating that he would physically fight Brown, police said. There were no threats or mention of weapons during the conversations, and Brown was not expected at the home when the shooting occurred.
Police said Brown was taken to the Marion County Jail and is being held on $50,000 bond. Brown's mugshot, above, was provided by the Marion County Jail, and is from a previous arrest.
One other person was in police custody, but officers had only called that person a "potential suspect."
