Massive fire destroys Orange County home

Cause of blaze not known

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A massive fire destroyed a home Wednesday afternoon, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.

Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said 45 firefighters from 15 units responded to the 2,200-square-foot home on Trevarthon Road near State Road 50 and State Road 417.

Firefighters do not know what caused the fire.

"We're still putting out the fire. We wouldn't speculate on a cause right now," Jachles said.

Neighbors told News 6 they heard about six popping or explosion noises around the time the fire started.

Ammunition was inside the home, according to investigators.

Division Chief of Operations Michael Wajda said crews had to bust through fences to get to the house.

The fire posed a challenge for crews as the gravel road paved the way toward the home.

Wajda said they had to figure out a way how to bring water and engines near the house.

An employee with Orlando Kia East said workers could see the house fire from their complex, which is a mile away.

No description found

Crews remained at the scene throughout the night to watch for hot spots.

Fire and arson investigators will investigate whether power was rigged into the house.
