Altamonte All-Stars defeat News 6 team in annual softball game

Game played for 34th consecutive year

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – News 6 played the Altamonte All-Stars softball team Saturday, for the 34th consecutive year.

The event, which is held at Eastmont Park in Altamonte Springs, pits the News 6 team against the All-Stars, who are a part of the Special Needs program.

The city of Altamonte’s special needs recreation program and the Advisory Board for the Disabled Inc. provide social and recreational activities to individuals 13 and older with mental or physical disabilities in Altamonte Springs and surrounding communities. 

News 6 has participated in the annual game for over 30 years, amassing a dismal 0-33 record before Saturday's game.

This year, the All Stars triumphed once again in a 34 -0 thrashing of the News 6 squad. News 6 participants included sports anchor Jamie Seh, morning anchors Justin Warmoth and Kirsten O’Connor, anchor Lisa Bell, meteorologist Tom Sorrells, and reporter Mark Lehman. Anchor Matt Austin was the public address announcer for the game.

A post-game meal was provided by Publix in Altamonte Springs.  The teams thank Doug Hill and Katie McGee from Publix.

News 6 is looking forward to the 35th annual game. Can the News 6 team get its first win? Time will tell.
