Scheduled to make their debut in June 2024, the new outfits for Mickey and Minnie will not only reflect Elyett’s artistic brilliance but will also be part of a broader collection celebrating the work of local artists at Lookout Cay.
“The beauty of Mickey and Minnie’s looks are that they are literally ‘Junkanoo Fun in the Sun,’” Elyett said. “When you talk about the print, pattern, color, texture of Junkanoo, they’ve got that.”
The designs incorporate elements like raffia, a natural material from Raffia palm trees used in The Bahamas for accessory decoration, and a nod to Eleuthera’s famous pineapples.
Disney Cruise Line said this new island destination promises an immersive experience into Bahamian culture through various artistic expressions.
Mickey and Minnie are not the only ones getting a fashion update. Disney Cruise Line said Elyett will also craft special styles for Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto and the dynamic duo, Chip ‘n’ Dale.
Disney Cruise Line said more details about Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, debuting in the summer of 2024, will be revealed soon.
