After months of waiting, Florida drivers can now take a look at designs for the new specialty plates on offer in Florida.

The plates come courtesy of HB 403, which took effect at the start of this month.

The new law directs the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to design additional specialty license plates, which include options for plates themed around places like Universal Orlando, The Villages, and Margaritaville.

Part of the proceeds from sales of these new plates is set to go toward a particular organization associated with each respective plate.

Right now, pre-sale vouchers are available for all of these new plates, each costing $33. The plates must receive 3,000 presale vouchers before they can go into circulation.

However, designs for the plates have just been revealed, providing Florida drivers with a look at what to expect. These new designs are as follows:

Presale vouchers for specialty plates based on Universal Orlando Resort and United Service Organizations are also available, though designs have yet to be released.

Each plate has up to two years to sell 3,000 vouchers before the license plate will be manufactured.

If the pre-sale period ends without an organization hitting that target, their respective specialty plate will instead be deauthorized, meaning it won’t actually be produced.

In that case, anyone who bought a pre-sale voucher for the plate can apply for a refund.

As of Tuesday, FLHSMV data shows the following number of presales for each plate:

Specialty PlatePre-SalesNumber of pre-sales still needed
Margaritaville1462,854
The Villages: Dreams Come True1002,900
Cure Diabetes102,990
Universal Orlando Resort12,999
Addiction: Reverse the Stigma12,999

Drivers can order presale vouchers for these plates through their local tax collector’s office.

To do so online, drivers must type in their license plate number (or the recipient’s if the voucher is being sent as a gift).
