This is the fast-casual chain’s first Central Florida location making it the third in Florida after Tampa and Brandon.
“We’re thrilled to expand our presence in Florida and be part of such an iconic community,” said Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo. “This new restaurant will allow us to bring Portillo’s to long-time fans and first-time guests in the Orlando area, as well as serve the many tourists in one of the country’s most popular destinations.”
Portillo’s is known for signature menu items such as Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and its famous chocolate cake.
The 7,800 square-foot restaurant will have two drive-thru lanes and two covered outdoor patios, officials said.
Portillo fans can get their hands on a limited-edition T-shirt celebrating the opening by signing up for the Portillo’s Birthday club while supplies last. Being a part of the club gets customers a free chocolate cake on their birthday too.
In anticipation of its opening, Portillo officials said they are hiring approximately 150 people in a variety of hourly and shift leader positions. To apply visit portillos.com/careers.
For a taste of Portillo’s menu prior to opening, the Beef Bus will be serving food around the Orlando area starting Jan. 21. The locations and dates will be announced on Twitter and Instagram, restaurant officials said.
