2 killed when motorcycle crashes into van in Cocoa Beach, police say

Double fatal wreck reported on South Orlando Avenue and South 2nd Street

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A motorcyclist traveling in Cocoa Beach crashed into a van Wednesday night, killing the biker and the van driver, according to police.

The Cocoa Beach Police Department said the double fatal crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at South Orlando Avenue and South 2nd Street.

Police said 26-year-old David Johnston, of Cocoa Beach, was traveling south on South Orlando Avenue on a motorcycle when his bike hit a van driven by 59-year-old William Lapierre, who was heading east on South 2nd Street.

Both men died as a result of the crash, police said.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, according to officials.
