ORLANDO, Fla. – A person sitting inside their home was shot Wednesday night when someone opened fired in a panic during a gathering in the same Orlando neighborhood where a teen was slain one year ago.
The shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Columbia Street at Parramore Avenue near I-4.

Orlando police said the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, someone threw a bottle out of a car and others panicked, thinking the sound of the bottle breaking was a gunshot. Shots were then fired, causing a chaotic scene.
Police said officers detained several people, two of whom were arrested on charged unrelated to the shooting.
One teen was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted delinquent, tampering with physical evidence, grand theft of a firearm, resisting without violence, possession of a firearm by a minor and violation of probation. The other was arrested on charges of violation of probation and resisting an officer without violence.
The gathering may have been related to a remembrance for 15-year-old Anwan Roberts Jr., who was shot and killed in the same area on Dec. 8, 2020, after he left his grandmother’s house.

No arrests have been made in the shooting death of Roberts, who was a ninth-grader at Wekiva High School.
Earlier this year, Orlando police announced a reward of up to $5,000 to help find the teen’s killer.
