ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Police Department is warning residents of a new phone scam targeting seniors, according to a news release sent out by police on Monday.
Two senior residents reportedly fell for the scam after being contacted on the phone in February, police said.

The release shows that the scammers informed both residents that their nephew was injured in a traffic crash. Officials also said the scammers claimed to need bail money to keep their nephew out of jail.
According to the release, the residents then received a second phone call from an additional person notifying them a woman would be visiting their home to pick up the money.

Orlando police said both seniors lost money in the scam.
The department is also warning family and friends of seniors to have conservations about such scam calls, warning them to not fall for the scam.
