KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A 32-year-old man was arrested after his 4-year-old son was fatally shot at a Kissimmee home on Thursday morning, according to the police department.
Police said the shooting happened in the child’s home at 2117 The Oaks Blvd. Officers responded to the hospital at 9:48 a.m. after receiving reports about the child being shot.
The child arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his face, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, police added.
According to police, a witness told them that the boy’s father — 32-year-old Michael Bragg — was sleeping at the home and awoke to find the 4-year-old with the injury near a wheelchair in the home.

Detectives said they later found a firearm round in the home’s common area, and while Bragg initially denied having any guns in the house, he later changed his story to say his friend had guns in the house.
Eventually, Bragg stated that he knew a gun was in the home and was used for “protection,” police said.
A search of the home was conducted, and two handguns were discovered in a suitcase near the front door, investigators said. The arrest report shows that one of the guns had a red substance on it that police believe to be blood.
Bragg faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Due to Bragg already being out on bond for a fleeing and eluding criminal case in Orange County, he is held on no bond, police said.
The shooting is still under investigation. No additional details were provided.
