PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. – The Carnival Freedom has returned to the high seas following a dry dock refurbishment.
Departing from Barcelona, Spain, the ship embarked on a 14-day transatlantic voyage just days ago, bound for its homeport of Port Canaveral.
The ship’s return follows an extensive refurbishment that came with fresh updates, including a new signature Carnival red, white and blue funnel, and a host of other enhancements.

Last year, the ship was docked in Grand Turk when flames erupted from one side of the ship’s funnel. Passengers had to be taken back to Port Canveral on another ship as crews investigated the cause.
Earlier this month, Carnival Freedom, a ship that can accommodate up to 2,980 guests, underwent a 16-day dry dock in Spain. The shipyard’s team are busy on a number of projects across the fleet, but Carnival said this refurbishment marks their first time designing and manufacturing a Carnival funnel.
One of the standout features of the revitalized ship is the newly introduced Heroes Tribute Bar, an expanding venue making its presence felt across the Carnival fleet.
This bar pays homage to military veterans and active-duty service members, offering a space to celebrate their contributions. Carnival Freedom now also boasts a Dreams Studio, where guests can seize and treasure cruise memories with the assistance of Carnival’s skilled photography staff. Guests will also find enhancments to the ship’s casino and staterooms and public areas.
After reaching Port Canaveral, the ship will once again offer four- and five-day sailings to destinations in The Bahamas, including Nassau and Princess Cays, as well as other Caribbean desintations like Grand Turk. In 2025, the ship will sail to Carnival’s exclusive upcoming destination, Celebration Key.
Port Canaveral said the ship’s first sailing out its home port will be Nov. 6.
