The crash involved a 2008 Suzuki Reno, and the driver was a 28-year-old Melbourne man, troopers added.
In a crash report, troopers said the driver lost control of the car and drove left onto the paved median.
He then overcorrected toward the right, causing the car to rotate and collide with the guardrail, the report shows.
Investigators said the driver continued overcorrecting, traveling across the northbound lanes and colliding with tree branches.
As a result, the car drove off the side of an embankment, going airborne until it crashed on the other side of the embankment, overturning onto its side, troopers said.
Troopers added that the driver died at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
