ORLANDO, Fla. – The average price for gas in Florida hit its lowest level in 2023 last week, and AAA says gas prices should remain low through the holidays.
The average price in Florida fell to $2.987 a gallon on Monday. About a week ago, gas prices were $3.148 a gallon.
AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said oil and gas futures fell as the weekly fuel report showed big gains in gas supplies thanks to strong refinery utility.
In the metro Orlando area, gas prices are at an average of $2.906 a gallon. In Brevard County, the average for a gallon of gas is $2.926, while in Daytona Beach the average price is $3.006 a gallon.
“About 35% of Florida gas stations now have fuel below $3 a gallon. Nearly 10% of retailers have prices in the low $2.70s,” Jenkins said. “While prices could bounce around in the coming weeks, drivers should expect pump prices to remain low through the holidays unless oil prices suddenly spike.”
The highest gas prices in Florida can be found in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area, while the least expensive gas prices can be found in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area.
“Gasoline storage levels are at their highest level of any December in history. So there’s just a lot of gasoline in the market and not quite as much demand for it right now,” Jenkins said.
