Upon arrival, they learned that a woman had come to the restaurant and ordered mozzarella sticks to go, the report says.
While the food cost $10, the woman paid with a $50 bill, which was later determined to be counterfeit, according to investigators.

Deputies said that a man was also seen with the woman, though it is unknown what role — if any — he might have played in distributing counterfeit bills.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives are actively following leads in this case, though they’re asking business owners to be “especially vigilant” about customers paying for low-cost goods with large bills.
The U.S. Secret Service offers the following tips for what to look for in genuine currency:
- Watermark embedded in the bill
- So-called “color-shifting ink”
- Security thread embedded vertically in the note
- Certain bills have large, off-center portraits (ex: Grant on the $50 bill, Franklin on the $100 bill)
