ORLANDO, Fla. – Two people were shot and injured Monday morning on Orange Blossom Trail near Orlando, deputies said.
Deputies said the shooting happened around 7 a.m. in the parking lot of Upstate Hall located in the 4100 block of South Orange Blossom Trail near 41st Street, south of I-4. The location is an after-hours club that has been on their radar for the last few months for illegally selling alcohol after hours.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office originally said two men suffered gunshot wounds, but then said it was a man and a woman. Then, later in the afternoon, the sheriff’s office released updated information that it was, indeed, two men who were found shot, as the agency originally reported.
Both were taken to a hospital, but their conditions have not been released.
Deputies said two other men, described as suspects, were also taken to the hospital, but it’s not known what type of injuries they sustained.
Jason Turner lives nearby.
“You can see the people running from over here over there shooting bah bah bah bah, you can see them with the gun in his hands shooting,” Turner said.
We saw deputies and ATF agents on the scene searching for evidence. Turner said the gunshots shattered his neighbor’s windows.
“The bullet holes went right over his bed, in his apartment. Yes everybody’s fine, but it went right past his head he said,” Turner said.
We saw a car crashed behind the shopping plaza. Deputies say the after-hours spot has no license to sell alcohol at any time and that undercover agents arrested two people back in November on charges of selling alcoholic beverages without a license.
Nashley Douglas works nearby and saw the crime scene Monday morning.
“This is a pretty scary area, but for something to actually happen at the moment or at the exact place where I work is very scary,” Douglas said.
News 6 is working to see if deputies can release more about a motive.
