2 separate shootings happen an hour apart in Ocala, leaving 1 dead, 1 injured

Police are investigating whether the shootings are related

OCALA, Fla. – Two separate shootings were reported in Ocala within around an hour of one another on Friday night, according to the police department.

In a release, police said they received a call around 7:15 p.m. about a shooting in the 2000 block of SW 4th Street. Upon arrival, they found a man who had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

While officers were at that scene, another shooting was reported around 8:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of SW 1st Street, the release shows.

Upon arrival at that location, police found a man dead with gunshot wounds, according to the department. He was found in a vacant lot.

Police said that “it is not clear” whether the two shootings are related, though both remain under investigation.
