Juveniles rescued from water in Cocoa Beach amid red flag conditions

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Three out-of-state juveniles visiting Cocoa Beach were rescued from the water Friday afternoon amid red flag conditions, according to police.

Multiple units with the Cocoa Beach Police Department and fire department responded to an area of the beach just north of Minutemen Causeway around 1:18 p.m., locating the juvenile swimmers in distress and removing them from the water with help from Brevard County lifeguards, a news release states. One of the juveniles was unresponsive, prompting immediate lifesaving measures, police said in the statement.

With red flag conditions expected to extend into the weekend, Brevard County Ocean Rescue is urging beachgoers to exercise extreme caution and to stay out of the water.
