VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A carjacking suspect crashed a stolen vehicle along Old Dixie Highway on Thursday afternoon, blocking traffic in the area, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the carjacking happened around 2:50 p.m. at 1520 N. U.S. Highway 1 in Ormond Beach.
The suspect then fled in the stolen vehicle, and he ultimately crashed near the exit to Interstate 95, investigators said.

Afterward, the suspect fled into a nearby wooded area, though deputies were eventually able to catch him, a news release shows.
Around 5 p.m., video showed traffic near the site of the crash was blocked, with law enforcement vehicles lining the roadway.
The sheriff’s office released body-camera footage of the suspect’s capture. In the video, a law enforcement canine can be seen tracking down the suspect.
“Get your (expletive) hands up!” a deputy can be heard saying after finding the suspect.

Deputies also said that an “innocent crash victim” was taken to the hospital for treatment.
No additional information has been provided at this time, including the suspect’s identity.
