On the day, FBI arrests 3 ’January 6 fugitives’ in Central Florida

Federal arrest warrants executed in Groveland

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Three years to the day since the Capitol Riot, three “January 6 fugitives” were arrested in Lake County, according to a statement from the FBI Tampa Division.

Federal arrest warrants were reportedly executed Saturday morning at a ranch in Groveland, where Jonathan Daniel Pollock, Olivia Michele Pollock and Joseph Daniel Hutchinson III were taken into custody, the statement reads.

For Jonathan Pollock — described as a 24-year-old welder and ironworker from Lakeland — the FBI advertised a reward of up to $30,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction regarding the assaulting, resisting or impeding of certain officers or employees, aiding and abetting, theft of government property, restricted building or grounds without lawful authority (sic) and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. With the exception of theft of government property, wanted posters for Olivia Pollock, 33, and Hutchinson, 27, listed the same alleged crimes.

The flyers, now peppered with the word “Captured,” warned that the trio should be considered armed and dangerous. According to the federal court docket, Jonathan Pollock averted arrest in 2021, fleeing the area before FBI agents arrested his sister Olivia near Lakeland. Hutchinson was also arrested in 2021, but just days before they were set to go to trial in March of 2023, Olivia and Hutchinson both disabled their ankle monitors and fled.

“We’ve been trying to locate Mr. Pollock since last summer,” FBI Tampa Acting Special Agent in Charge Sanjay Virmani said in a 2022 news release. “The allegations against him aren’t going away and must be dealt with. The FBI is patient but determined to bring to justice those responsible for the violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.”

The indictment against Jonathan, Olivia and Hutchinson states the defendants forcibly assaulted, resisted, opposed, intimidated and interfered with Capitol police, with Jonathan accused of using a flag pole and a stolen riot shield to attack officers.

The three are scheduled to appear Monday, Jan. 8, in federal court in Ocala.

Body-worn camera video shared by the FBI shows a man who investigators identify as Jonathan Pollock grab, rush, tackle, kick and punch U.S. Capitol police officers on Jan. 6, 2021, at points wielding a flag pole and riot shield as the indictment mentions.

More than 1,200 people across the country have so far been arrested and charged with crimes stemming from the events of Jan. 6, 2021, according to the U.S. Justice Department. Nearly two-thirds of cases involving Central Florida defendants have already been resolved in court.

Pending further details on the trio’s backgrounds, these three latest captures may bring the total number of Central Floridians arrested in connection to the Capitol Riot to 41, with 22 of those cases resolved and all but one resulting in convictions.
