In December, Port Canaveral saw a record high for monthly passenger activity with 734,485 passengers generated from 87 cruise calls.

At Wednesday’s meeting, there was also discussion about the legislative priorities for Port Canaveral.

Vice President of Government and Strategic Communications Diane Luensmann spoke about securing state funding for replacement of the State Road 401 bridge and widening State Road 528.

“We also need to have good connections of highways and bridges to connect this seaport in our community,” Luensmann said. “We have support of the Brevard legislative delegation and we’ve also gained the interest of the other members of the House and Senate in seeing those two projects receive funding in the near term.”

The Florida Legislature is expected to remain in session through March.
