SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother is accusing a Lake Mary daycare of assaulting her son, according to a lawsuit filed earlier this month.
The lawsuit claims that on Jan. 10, 2022, the boy and three other children were “assaulted” by a staff member while playing at Starchild Academy.

At the time, the boy wanted to get on the monkey bars, and so he “guided another child away from the bars,” the lawsuit reads.
However, court documents say that the staff member grabbed the boy, “snatched him up by his arm,” and carried him over to the time-out area.

According to the lawsuit, another incident happened in September of that year when another staff member allegedly held the boy against a table with her leg.
The boy’s parents brought their concerns over these incidents to the school, and the boy was later pulled from the class and given a new teacher, the lawsuit states.
As a result of these incidents, the plaintiffs — two people named Imani Prioleau-Smith — are accusing the daycare of negligence, inadequate supervision, civil battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit shows that the plaintiffs are seeking over $50,000 in damages.
