ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A hotel developer is planning to build a massive resort near State Road 535 and Interstate 4.
AIC Hotel Group has filed preliminary plans with Orange County for a resort called Lee Vista Village to be built off Meadow Creek Drive near Sheraton Vistana Resort and Orlando World Center Marriott.
According to the conceptual master plan, there would be four hotels with a combined 1,934 rooms. The plan also included 16 restaurants and 270 apartments.
Alexandra Salazar lives less than a mile from where the resort would be built and had mixed feelings about the plans.
“A lot of the people I know, we work for the industry,” Salazar said. “It will be beneficial to have more options, but at the same time they have to fix all of the issues that it’s going to bring.”

One of Salazar’s main concerns is increased traffic for an area that routinely sees delays.
“It’s always backed up and I-4 is right next door, so that’s always backed up too. Traffic is pretty bad,” she said.
Salazar also said affordable housing continues to be a problem as more development comes to Orlando.
“There’s a lot of places to live,” she said. “I don’t think people are making enough to pay what the rents and what the mortgages are.”
Plans for the resort also called for several pools, along with waterslides and a lazy river.
With planning still in the early stages, no timetable has been established for when construction could begin.
Salazar, meanwhile, said she hoped more pressing issues would be addressed before any new resort is built.
“I feel like before you keep building more apartments and more resorts, you should first take care of how people are going to move from one side to another,” she said.
