Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to serve as Grand Marshal for 66th Daytona 500

Iconic race begins Feb. 18

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In a thrilling announcement Monday, Dwayne Johnson — widely recognized as “The Rock” — is set to take the wheel as this year’s Grand Marshal for the upcoming 2024 Daytona 500.

The 66th edition of the The Great American Race will unfold on Feb. 18.

This isn’t Johnson’s time in the NASCAR Cup series. He previously assumed the role of Grand Marshal at the Texas Motor Speedway race in April 2004, according to CBS Sports.

The race weekend kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 14, with DAYTONA 500 Qualifying Presented by Busch Light, determining the front row for the main event, NASCAR said.

Thursday, Feb. 15, race fans can witness the intensity of the Bluegreen Vacations Duel, where NASCAR Cup Series drivers vie for the coveted chance to compete on Sunday. Friday, Feb. 16, marks the return of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in the Fresh From Florida 250. The excitement continues on Feb. 17, with the ARCA Menards Series Race and the NASCAR Xfinity Series United Rentals 300.

On Sunday, Feb. 18, following a performance by Pitbull, the NASCAR Cup Series drivers hit the track for the much-anticipated 66th running of the DAYTONA 500 beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Back in November, the speedway announced that 2024 DAYTONA 500 grandstands and camping tickets were sold out, months in advance, and breaking history for the earliest sellout.

The Daytona International Speedway said many other ticket offers are still available including an infield admission and club packages.
