Your guide to the 2024 US Olympic Marathon Trials in downtown Orlando

Event set for 10 a.m. on Feb. 3

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gear up running enthusiasts because the Sunshine State is about to witness the ultimate event for Olympic talent with over 1,500 elite marathon runners taking to the pavement.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, in the heart of downtown, Orlando will transform into a thrilling stage for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

The 26.2-mile course starts and finishes near scenic Lake Eola Park, traveling through Orlando’s downtown business district and passing iconic landmarks like the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Athletes will cross a 2.2-mile loop through downtown Orlando, then run through three consecutive eight-mile loops to the Milk District and back. The duration of the marathon will be three to four hours.

Three spots on each the men’s and women’s marathon teams are up for grabs and victors will qualify to represent Team USA in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The men’s race will start at 10:10 a.m. with the women’s race conceding 10 minutes after at 10:20 a.m.

Road closures:

  • For the 2.2-mile race loop, roads will shut down from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.
  • The 8-mile race loop can expect road closures from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day.
  • This course map is divided into 10 zones with varying levels of road closures affecting residences and businesses.

State Road 408 exit and entrance closures:

  • Main highway will remain open, but all downtown exits and entrances between Lake Underhill Road and Orange Avenue will be closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 3.
  • For the 2.2-mile race loop, road closures will be in effect from 5 a.m.

Pedestrian access:

  • Pedestrian crossings open until 9 a.m., then limited to designated points.
  • Crossings reopen around 2 p.m. after the race.

Parking alternatives:

  • With the possibility of potential vehicle access limitations, businesses and residents are advised to relocate their vehicles outside of the road closures if access is required during event hours.

Spectator viewing zones

Both free and ticketed spectator viewing options are available. You can cheer runners on from the designated viewing zones strategically placed throughout the course.

Service animals are permitted into the event. All other animals are prohibited.

The four spectator viewing zones include:

  • Start Line
    • 407 N Magnolia Ave. The best viewing time is from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
  • Finish Line
    • 195 N. Rosalind Ave. The best viewing time is from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. You can see the runners three times at ticketed grandstand seats. Click here to purchase tickets.
  • Seneff Arts Plaza
    • Located at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts 419 S. Orange Ave. The best viewing time is 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Official merch is available for purchase at this location.
  • City Hall Plaza
    • 400 S. Orange Ave. The best viewing time is 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. You can see the runners three times at this location.

Athletes

From seasoned veterans, like Conner Mantz and Sam Chelanga, to rising athletes looking for their Olympic debut, runners will get the opportunity to showcase their athletic ability.
