ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A South Carolina man faces a hearing next month after a waitress was slapped at a Disney resort in November, according to court records.

In an arrest affidavit, Orange County deputies said they responded to the Citricos restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort on Nov. 19 shortly before 9 p.m. after receiving a call about a battery.

Upon arrival, they learned that a waitress had been checking in a reservation for three, though a family with four members arrived at the restaurant instead, the affidavit shows.

Deputies said the waitress explained to one of the men — identified as John Munro, 64 — that his clothes weren’t “in accordance with the dress code” due to wearing swimming shorts and a t-shirt.

As a result, Munro was told he wouldn’t be allowed to dine with the rest of the party, deputies added.

According to investigators, Munro told the waitress that he understood but wished to stay with the rest of the party in the seating area.

However, when she later brought the party to the table, she noticed that Munro was following along as though he were going “to be seated with the other three,” the affidavit states.

The waitress was then approached by a female guest who told her, “Please don’t allow him to sit with us. He is really drunk, underdressed, it’s my birthday and I’m embarrassed,” investigators said.

Again, the waitress told Munro that he wouldn’t be allowed to sit at the table with the rest of the party due to his attire, but he slapped the waitress’ forehead three times while saying, “Jazz Jazz Jazz,” the affidavit reads.

Detectives said the female guest reportedly began waving at Munro and told him to stop, and he walked away.

The guest then repeatedly apologized to the waitress, who notified her supervisor about the incident, according to the affidavit.

Deputies said that Munro appeared intoxicated and was repeating that he was going to sue Disney.

Munro was placed under arrest and faces a misdemeanor charge of battery. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 16 for a pre-trial conference.

While Munro was previously an executive at The Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Hills, South Carolina, a resort spokesperson told News 6 that Munro is no longer employed there.
