DELTONA, Fla. – Two people, including a 19-year-old, were shot Wednesday night while riding in a Mercedes on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The shooting was reported around 8:50 p.m. along I-4 east near Saxon Boulevard in Deltona.
Troopers said the victims, a 61-year-old man and the 19-year-old, were traveling in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the inside lane when a black SUV or pickup truck was driving behind them and the driver flashed the high-beam headlights.
The 61-year-old moved to the center lane and the other driver shot at the Mercedes, hitting the victims, according to the FHP.
The victims, who are from Tennessee, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an FHP report.
Eastbound lanes of I-4 were shut down but were reopened a couple of hours later.
