The release says the threat was made on Jan. 20, though students told school administrators and a school resource officer on Jan. 23.
The teen was taken into custody on Thursday, and he faces a charge of written threats to kill or do bodily harm.
“If you ever come across a threat like this, especially toward a school, please call law enforcement immediately,” police said. “Parents and guardians of kids who use social media, please explain to your children the seriousness of these kinds of social media threats.”
