ORLANDO, Fla. – Later this month, Cupid’s Undie Run is scheduled to hold its annual fundraiser run through Orlando, according to the group’s website.

The run involves “undie runners” — people wearing their underwear to run in — coming to downtown Orlando to raise money for neurofibromatosis (NF) research.

“Every February, thousands of undie runners in cities across the U.S. come together, whether it be in-person or virtually, to support those affected by NF, a group of genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body,” the website reads.

Cupid’s Undie Run will start with “drinking and dancing” before jogging for an approximately 1-mile run. Then, the fundraiser will end with an “epic dance party,” the group’s website says.

While participants are invited to run in their “undies,” they are also allowed to try out a costume, tutu or onesie — just so long as they keep it “PG-13.”

Runners can also receive rewards depending on how much money they raise. The possible rewards are as follows:

  • $100 — Official 2024 Cupid’s Undie Run t-shirt (redeemed at event)
  • $250 — Undies from Pair of Thieves & Woxer (redeemed at event)
  • $350 — Open Bar (redeemed at event)
  • $500 — Choice of Yeti Rambler or shaker/pint (plus open bar, undies and t-shirt)
  • $1,000 — Choice of scarf or Sherpa blanket (plus open bar, undies and t-shirt)
  • $2,000 — COSO 2L Hip Cada Dia (plus open bar, undies and t-shirt)
  • $5,000 — Solo Stove (plus open bar, undies and t-shirt)
  • $10,000 — Yeti M12 backpack cooler (plus open bar, undies and t-shirt)

Organizers said that the fundraising rewards aren’t cumulative — with the exception of the t-shirt, undies and open bar — so that more money can go toward the NF research efforts.

Instead, those who raise $500 or more will receive an email to redeem one reward of their choice at or below their fundraising total after fundraising closes on March 15.

Of the $37,000 goal set by organizers, the fundraiser has already brought in nearly $16,000 as of Monday afternoon.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, from 12 - 4 p.m., though the run is expected to kick off around 2 p.m. Participants will meet at Elixir Kitchen and Bar, located at 9 W. Washington St.

According to the website, the cost of registration is $45, though the price will jump to $50 in the week before the event.
