According to a news release from the New Smyrna Beach Police Department, the victim — a 39-year-old man — was found unresponsive in a ditch and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators on Friday determined a potential suspect vehicle, stating it could have been a 2004-2008 Ford F-150 or Expedition of an unknown color. The vehicle would have sustained front-end damage in the crash.

A preliminary investigation found that the man, while riding the bicycle, was struck by a vehicle that was then driven away from the scene, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police at 386-424-7791 or via email. Tips to Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477) that result in an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000, the release states.
