‘It’s been a dream:’ Popular Cuban bakery from Miami opens 1st location in Orlando

Vicky Bakery opens in Orlando’s South Semoran neighborhood

ORLANDO, Fla. – A popular Cuban bakery from South Florida will open its first location in Orlando.

Vicky Bakery on Friday is opening its 25th location in Florida, in Orlando’s South Semoran neighborhood.

The bakery has been serving pastelitos, or pastries, in Miami since 1972. The bakery’s specialty Cuban sweets are made with a family recipe that has been passed down for generations.

Owner Dione Brady said this opening is more than just about the sweets.

“It’s amazing that people are here from Miami too and it’s emotional because it’s been a dream, it’s part of the family and the history that we have,” Brady said.

Brady moved to Central Florida two decades ago, and her goal was to bring the Miami-based chain to Orlando.

She said there are plans to expand and eventually open another Vicky Bakery in Winter Park.

“This is amazing I moved here in 2004 and I drove around, and I couldn’t find a single bakery, so this has been in my head for a while,” Brady said.

The location will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
