1 found dead after mobile home becomes engulfed in flames in Polk County

Firefighters respond to fire at 1640 Highway 12-92 Lot #8 in Lake Alfred

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – One person was found dead early Monday after a mobile home in Polk County became fully engulfed in flames, according to fire rescue.

Firefighters responded just before 2 a.m. to the blaze at 1640 Highway 12-92 Lot No. 8 in Lake Alfred.

According to Polk County Fire Rescue, crews were able to search the mobile home after the flames were extinguished, and they found one person dead inside.

Polk County Fire Rescue was assisted by the Lake Alfred Fire Department, Haines City Fire Department, Auburndale Fire Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida State Fire Marshal Office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
