East Orange County, 32825 ZIP code is booming. Why that worries residents

As WKMG Hits the Road, we ask residents about their concerns

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – People who live in East Orange County are sharing thoughts on the community as WKMG is preparing to come to their neighborhood.

A new initiative dubbed WKMG Hits the Road will broadcast and livestream our entire newscast from neighborhoods all around Central Florida. Each town and city is what makes the Central Florida community so unique – and we want to spotlight them all — one at a time.

WKMG Hits the Road is heading to East Orange County first, specifically the 32825 zip code.

David Hill was at Downey Park Tuesday and said there are several things about the area that make it special.

“It’s the parks. It’s close to downtown. There’s a lot of things going around in this area,” Hill said. “Another thing about this area is the schools. People come from all over the world here to go to school.”

32825 is home to Valencia College East, which serves about 20,000 students every year, and Lockheed Martin, a company working to turn Florida into a tech hub.

With all of the changes that have happened over the past couple of decades, Hill said he has concerns about traffic.

“To me, the roads are not able to take this. I see a big problem in the next six years or less,” Hill said. “We’ve got traffic jams now that are crazy.”

Bill Dent is also a long-time resident and said he would like to learn more about what the area is going to look like in the next few years.

“I’d like to see more information on the new development that’s coming in. The price of the housing that they’re going to put in and stuff like that. That’s all in the early stages now,” Dent said.

We want to know what else drives the 32825 community. What do you want us to know? Are there stories you want covered? What are the best-kept secrets — or challenges — in the area?

You can tell us about your community, the stories you want to be covered, the history of your area and more on the WKMG Hits the Road page.
