ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. – Buc-ee’s is gearing up for what’s expected to be its first location along Florida’s Treasure Coast, according to TCPalm on Wednesday.

TCPalm reports that the major gas station chain submitted a site plan for the location to St. Lucie County, and the travel center would be built on the southeast corner of the Interstate 95 Indrio Road interchange.

Site plans for the St. Lucie County location show over 100 gas pumps and nearly 800 parking spaces, though those plans could undergo revisions before going to the county commission for approval.

In all, the site area is over 2.2 million square feet. According to TCPalm, the site plans show the following features:

  • 73,000-square-foot retail facility
  • 789 parking spots
  • 120 fueling stations
  • 19 handicap-accessible parking spots
  • 18 electric vehicle charging stations
  • 11 bus parking spots

This could be the fourth location in the state, with the chain already having centers in Daytona Beach and St. Augustine.

Another “Texas-sized” Buc-ee’s is slated to open next year in Marion County, which could end up being the company’s largest. That site is expected to open north of Ocala near Interstate 75, with an 80,000-square-foot travel center.

Meanwhile, Buc-ee’s confirmed in December that a huge car wash is scheduled to open in Daytona Beach, possibly by this summer. Construction on the 235-foot car wash is already underway.

If commissioners decide to approve Buc-ee’s St. Lucie County site plans, they would then have the option of accepting recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Board. Overall, this process could take months.
