4 years after woman’s murder in Orange County, family still presses sheriff’s office for results

Renisha Lee, 27, was fatally shot in February 2020

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After Renisha Lee was shot and killed at an Orange County mobile home park in February 2020, her family is continuing their search for answers four years later.

“We want justice and I’m patiently waiting because I know it’s going to happen,” said Lee’s mother, Renee Stovall. “She was 27 years old. She had a life ahead of her.”

Lee would have been 31 years old today.

Her life was cut short when she was shot and killed back in February of 2020 at a mobile home park where she lived on South Orange Blossom Trail, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Her family told us they don’t believe she was the intended target. At last check, no one has been charged in her death.

Lee’s stepfather, Stovelleo Stovall, is a pastor in Orlando and believes someone knows something.

“We know that people saw, and we know that people was in communication, and we just waiting on justice like other families are,” Pastor Stovall said. “...I just need more communication with the sheriff’s office, period.”

News 6 reached out to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office trying to get the latest on this case and to see where things stand.

Lee’s family says they’ve been trying to get answers, too.

“We’ve been reaching out, no answers,” Renee Stovall said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement to News 6 on Sunday:

The murder of Ms. Lee remains an open and active case that continues to be investigated. There are no new leads or anything of that nature to report at the moment. Our detectives believe that someone out there knows what happened and who the shooter or shooters are, and they are committed to following up on any actionable leads in this case, and in all unsolved cases.

“We want justice for all, for everybody, anyone who has lost a loved one to a senseless death, that have those sleepless nights,” Pastor Stovall said.

He said not only are they remembering their daughter this month, but it’s also the 12th anniversary of their church, calling it bittersweet.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office. Tips to Crimeline that result in an arrest in a homicide investigation are typically eligible for a cash reward, in this case of up to $5,000 at last check.
