MOUNT DORA, Fla. – The city manager in Mount Dora resigned Tuesday ahead of a special meeting to discuss his fate.
Patrick Comiskey was suspended last month by the city after an independent audit found several cases of favoritism and retaliation.
The allegations include limiting promotional opportunities and purposely leaving dozens of positions open, including the police chief. The report also said many city workers who had left complained about Comiskey.
Back in May, Mount Dora Mayor Crissy Stiles called for Comiskey’s resignation because of the reports of unhappy workers and the number of open positions in the city, which led to commissioning the audit.
At the meeting last month, many residents supported Comiskey as city manager.
In the end, Comiskey was suspended with pay on a 5-2 vote, and an interim city manager was appointed.
The meeting for Tuesday night was canceled.
