Concrete truck catches fire along Highway 40 in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Traffic was blocked along East Highway 40 on Thursday morning after a concrete truck caught fire, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

In a release, fire officials said crews responded to the fire at 9570 E. Hwy 40 after receiving calls about the fire.

Crews arrived at the scene shortly after 7 a.m., finding that the truck had become “fully involved in flames,” the release shows.

As a result, traffic was closed along the highway in both directions and the nearby bridge was shut down, fire officials stated.

Eventually, first responders were able to extinguish the fire, though investigators were concerned about the amount of oil on the bridge, according to MCFR.

Regardless, no injuries were reported, as the truck driver was able to escape from the vehicle, the release says.

No additional information has been released at this time, including the cause of the fire.
