DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The start of March marks one of the busiest times of year in Daytona Beach, with the overlap of Bike Week and spring break.
Tens of thousands of bikers are expected to roll into Volusia County starting Friday as the annual motorcycle event officially gets underway.

Daytona Beach police sent out a public service announcement on Thursday, saying traffic congestion is expected around the following areas:
- Main Street and Atlantic Avenue
- Peninsula Drive and Halifax Avenue
- Dr. Mary McCloud Bethune Boulevard
- International Speedway Boulevard
- Martin Luther King Boulevard and Charles Street
Main Street will also be closed to most traffic, allowing only motorcycles to access.

Police are also asking residents to exercise patience while traveling throughout the city, as more than 300,000 visitors are expected to attend the 10-day event.
An increased police presence is also expected for DUI monitoring and crowd control. Historically, there has been an uptick in motorcycle crashes and traffic fatalities during Bike Week.
