BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A judge on Thursday gave a life sentence in prison to Timothy Upthegrove, a Titusville man found guilty of first-degree murder in his wife Lori’s 2017 stabbing death.
Upthegrove, 59, faced the murder charge along with those of failure to report a death and tampering with evidence. His trial lasted seven days, with evidence presented by Assistant State Attorneys Kari Kies and Shane Williams, a news release states, adding jury deliberation lasted about nine hours.

Lori Upthegrove, 51, was killed Dec. 18, 2017, and reported missing the next day by family members. Timothy was arrested the day after that, accused at the time of resisting a law enforcement officer without violence after police located him at a Days Inn on Cheney Highway with his wife’s vehicle.
It wasn’t long before Lori’s body was found that Christmas Eve, a day otherwise marking the Upthegrove’s first wedding anniversary. Timothy had been arrested that day to face a charge of murder, telling police he killed Lori during an argument and had hidden her body at a lot on Bobbi Lane.
Upthegrove will be transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence, the release states.
