ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A threat made to a Brevard County elementary school has been deemed not credible, officials said early Friday.

BPS officials later said that law enforcement officials investigated the threat and found that it was not credible.

“Investigators spoke with the family and juvenile who supposedly sent the email,” BPS said. “They were cooperative and had no knowledge of the email. The investigation into who sent the email is ongoing.”

School district officials said there would be extra security at the school on Friday as a precaution.

“(Brevard Public Schools) and our law enforcement partners take threats seriously, and we will work to ensure everyone’s safety during the investigative process,” the news release stated.

No additional information has been released.
