Arson blamed for fire that damaged 7 vehicles at student housing near UCF

Fire was reported at The Pointe at Central apartments

ORLANDO, Fla. – Seven vehicles were damaged in an arson at a University-affiliated apartment complex Monday morning, according to University of Central Florida police.

According to a news release, officers responded to The Pointe at Central apartments and located a vehicle they believe was intentionally set on fire.

Police said the fire spread and damaged a total of seven vehicles.

As of 1 p.m., police said the complex is accessible to residents, but the scene is closed as they investigate the fire.

“UCFPD is working diligently to pursue all investigative leads and will continue its 24/7 patrol of UCF’s campuses. Student Care Services is also providing one-on-one wrap-around support to the students impacted,” the release read.
