BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida father is suing the Brevard County School Board, claiming his daughter was bullied, according to court documents filed on Wednesday.
The lawsuit says that the daughter — a 7th-grader at Edgewood High School referred to as “A.C.” — began being harassed by a particular student in October 2023.

“This included sexual assault and inappropriate sexual comments and overtures,” the lawsuit reads. “Defendant has been aware of this other student’s propensity for such conduct but has failed to take corrective action to protect A.C. and other female students.”
According to the lawsuit, school faculty were repeatedly asked to address the bullying, though “no measures have been implemented” to protect A.C.

As a result, the continued harassment has caused A.C.’s grades to fall due to mental distress, the lawsuit claims.
A.C.’s father is accusing the district of violating his daughter’s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights, along with a Title IX violation.
“In failing to prevent known bullying, Defendant acted under color of state law and violated A.C.’s Fourth Amendment rights to privacy and ability to be safe in her person,” the lawsuit adds.
Due to this, the lawsuit seeks “fees and any other relief the court deems appropriate, including injunctive relief to enforce policies protecting similarly situated female students.”
Brevard County Public Schools said it does not comment on pending litigation.
