ORLANDO, Fla – A 24-year-old man faces charges in the shooting death of an Ocoee High football star, according to Orlando police.
Dexter Rentz Jr., a graduating senior from Ocoee High School, was shot and killed on April 25, 2020.

On Wednesday, Orlando police announced that they arrested Christopher Burke in connection with Rentz’s death.

Police said they responded to the drive-by-shooting in the 5100 block of Else Street and discovered multiple victims from the shooting.
Officers said they watched two vehicles drive away from the area and pursued both. Rentz was found suffering from a gunshot wound in one of the cars and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
It was ultimately discovered that the second vehicle was not connected to the investigation, according to police
“He was a legend. He was everything,” Rentz’s mother, Salisa Sinclair, said after the shooting. “They took a part of me, a lot of me. It’s gone.”
Rentz had signed a football scholarship to play football at the University of Louisville.
According to a news release, Burke faces charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
