The Davenport Police Department said a fugitive task force in Norfolk, Virginia, located Kidd and took him into custody.
Davenport police on Friday said Kidd’s cousin was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The department said she remains hospitalized but did not specify her updated condition. Police said the victim, whose name and age have not been released, had injuries to the back, chest, face, and arms.
“I will say that it is, it’s only a miracle that this lady is alive,” Davenport police Chief Steve Parker said during a news conference. “She was able to eventually get from the house and go to a neighbor’s house and seek refuge and seek assistance, which is where we found her.”
The chief said Kidd had been living with his cousin for about a year.
The department said a motive for the stabbing is “still unknown.”
“We are thankful for our law enforcement partners in Norfolk, Virginia, who worked diligently to help us take this violent individual off the streets. We continue to pray for the victim and her recovery,” Parker said in a release.
Kidd faces an attempted murder charge and is awaiting extradition to Davenport.
