MASCOTTE, Fla. – The city of Mascotte has released an update on the ongoing repairs of a sinkhole.
The city’s Facebook page posted a notice back on April 11 to inform the public about a safety concern surrounding a sinkhole that opened up on Alpine Street, and that a closure was necessary to assess the extent of the damage and determine the required repairs.

According to a post on May 7, the city hopes to reopen Alpine Street by mid-May. There’s also a chance it could reopen at the end of the month, depending on how much grout will be needed to fill the holes. Once the grout sets, crews will need to resurface the road.
“We understand that this street closure may have caused an inconvenience for some, and we apologize for any disruption to your daily routines. However, the safety of our community is our top priority.”
