APOPKA, Fla. – Investigators say engine failure is what caused the small plane to land on a road in an industrial area of Apopka.
The small, single-engine airplane made an emergency landing on a sidewalk in Apopka on Wednesday afternoon, according to Apopka police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Officials said the pilot of the Piper PA-32 reported engine failure around 11:30 a.m. before landing on the sidewalk along 3000 Shelby Industrial Drive, right next to an Amazon warehouse with an empty lot across the street.

An official from the National Transportation Safety Board said that preliminary information indicates that “during a training flight, the certified flight instructor reported a loss of power and made a forced landing.”
Ken Wright works with the company that is removing the plane from where it landed.
“It looks like he had some engine trouble,” he said.
Two people on board the plane were uninjured, according to a news release.
Police said the FAA and the NTSB have been notified and will investigate.
