A Florida beach has been recognized by Southern Living for its out-of-this-world waters that it says are the clearest in the South.
With the state’s 825 miles of coast, the publication picked Jupiter, Florida, calling its waters “so stunningly gorgeous that the first time you lay eyes on them, you may find it a little hard to catch your breath.”
The city on the southeastern coast is just 30 minutes north West Palm Beach and only about a two or three hour drive from Orlando, depending on your starting point.

Southern Living said the waters in Jupiter stay so clear because of its location in the path of the Gulf Stream, which means a constant flow of tropical water. The area’s coast also juts out a little more east where the continental shelf is more narrow, meaning the tropical waters pass closer to shore here than anywhere else in North America.
Visit Florida calls the city a “quintessential Southeast Florida vacation destination” and lists several outdoor adventures to take part in like sea turtle walks and fishing.
There’s also the Juno Beach Pier with its 990-foot boardwalk ad nearby Loggerhead Marinelife Center where you can view interactive exhibits and see the sea turtles they are rehabilitating.
You can also take in a 360-degree view of the sunrise or sunset from the 108-foot tall Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse which was first lighted in 1860.
