WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Video released Friday by the Winter Springs Police Department shows the moment a speeding car hit another vehicle, killing a mother of three, according to authorities.
Winter Springs police identified the driver as 25-year-old Asnubil R. Escobar, who was arrested on arrested last Wednesday on DUI homicide charges in connection with the Tuesday crash.
The video, recorded from a nearby building, shows the car being driven by Escobar speeding in from the left as a white Honda, driven by Tiffany Alexander, starts to turn from a side street. In the video, the collision is hidden by trees, but Alexander’s video is plainly seen moving back several feet after impact.
Winter Springs Police Chief Matthew Tracht said Escobar sped through a red light and T-boned Alexander’s car.
Alexander, who had two children in the backseat of her car, was taken to an area hospital, where she died. The children were not hurt, police said.
Police said Escobar had a blood alcohol content level of 0.38, nearly five times the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida.
“She was late for work and she was going back to work,” Tracht said Thursday. “She is a bartender. She did tell us her last alcoholic drinks were about 1:30 in the morning.”
Escobar faces multiple charges, including vehicular DUI homicide and unlawful blood alcohol causing injury. She has bonded out of Seminole County Jail.
A GoFundMe account was created to assist the Alexander family.
