Friend speaks out after Winter Springs mom of 3 killed in crash

Tiffany Alexander died in crash at SR-434 and Vistawilla Drive

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Nearly a week after a Winter Springs mom of three was killed in a crash at State Road 434 and Vistawilla Drive, one of their family friends shared more about the wife, mother and friend she was.

Tiffany Alexander was killed in the crash last Tuesday. Her friend, Michael Smith, told News 6 that his wife was driving behind Alexander at the time of the crash.

Smith spoke to News 6 on Monday and shared more about Alexander and her impact on those around her.

“She loved being a mom. She just loved everything about it,” Smith said. “To be around her and to see someone with so much energy and happiness and light, and she just made you feel better just to be around her.”

Smith said that in the days following the crash, several people have reached out to share how much Alexander meant to them.

“She had obviously affected people that they wanted to reach out and not even just see what they could do to help, but more to express their grief for their loss of someone who meant something to them,” Smith said.

According to the Winter Springs Police Department, the other driver — Asnubil Escobar — was driving a white Toyota when she ran a red light and hit Alexander’s car. Police said Escobar’s blood alcohol level was nearly 5 times the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Escobar now faces multiple charges, including vehicular DUI homicide.

Now, Alexander’s family and friends are coping with an unimaginable loss.

“She’s got a young family that has a huge piece of them missing now,” Smith said. “I don’t know how you fill that. We’re planning for the next year or two or three on how we can support this family and make sure that they know that they are loved and have the things they need.”

A GoFundMe has been started to help support the Alexander family. If you’d like to donate, click here.
