PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Port Orange police said investigators conducted a formal interview with a 70-year-old woman who was involved in the crash that killed a 10-year-old Sugar Mill Elementary student nearly a week ago.
Police identified the woman, but News 6 has decided not to name her at this time because she has not been charged in the case. Officers did not release any additional details about the investigation.

ShaoLan Kamaly was hit and killed while in a crosswalk around 7:10 a.m. on May 24 near the entrance of the school, 1101 Charles St.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, who are pulling data from the vehicle to see how fast it was going and checking the area to see if there was any video of the crash.
Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood said he had seen surveillance video that showed the driver likely breaking several rules.
“She’s there at 7:08 dropping her kid off. She’s speeding through an intersection. It’s 5 miles an hour, there’s a stop sign, there’s a stop bar. She chose not to do that,” he said.
Despite his comments, the woman currently does not face any charges.
Following the crash, a parent started an online petition to require safety changes around all Volusia County Elementary Schools.
The family of Kamaly established a GoFundMe to help with a memorial and legal fees.
