KISSIMMEE, Fla. – It’s a celebration of love— now a tradition in Kissimmee.
Hundreds are set to fill the Kissimmee Civic Center this weekend with music, colorful performances and flowers, all for PrideFest.
“Lotuses represent rebirth and change and growth. We thought it would be a really cool moment for our community to celebrate whatever growth they had over the past year,” said City of Kissimmee Event & Venues Manager Kayla Rogers.
The City of Kissimmee is hosting the event for its eighth year.
Rogers said the event highlights the city’s growth and celebrates the LGBTQ community.
This year’s PrideFest features a Lady Gaga tribute band performance from Kissimmee Queens, food and more.
Last year, concerns about safety and complying with a new Florida law led to the cancellation of several pride events, but Kissimmee kept its party going. Rogers said this year the city is taking the same safety precautions.
“We are prepared and safety, as always, concerned at all the events. We will be working closely with (Kissimmee Police Department) and some other security companies to make sure the event has tons of safe opportunities,” said Rogers.
All the fun kicks off Saturday at noon at the Kissimmee Civic Center.
